Milwaukee Bucks: NCAA champion Bucks becomes an intriguing candidate for the NBA draft after training

The Milwaukee Bucks have plenty of options to choose from in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. However, it is also true that this team also has many areas to address before the modern season.

There’s no denying that the Bucks struggled a lot defensively last season, especially in the backcourt. As such, it wouldn’t be a completely bad idea if they used their second-round pick on a player like UConn’s Tristen Newton.

Newton, a 6-foot-10 guard who is finishing his fifth year of college, recently shared a photo of himself in a Bucks uniform on social media. This only means that the 23-year-old completed a pre-draft workout with Milwaukee because the team considers him a potential recruit:

However, it should be noted that Newton actually had the number “5” in his photo, which seems to indicate that the Bucks are the fifth NBA team he is currently working with ahead of the upcoming draft.

According to Dalton Sell of Behind the Bucks Pass, Newton could be an intriguing fit for Milwaukee given his defensive capabilities:

“There’s a lot to be said for Newton’s possible fit in Milwaukee. First of all, it is persistent defenderand with a height of 180 cm, his size is appropriate, which will allow him to compete with larger players. “It’s no secret that the Bucks need to turn over every stone to add more strong defenders to the lineup, especially young ones with an engine like Newton,” Sell wrote.

UConn game?

In case you forgot, the Bucks used one of their picks last year to sign another UConn graduate. This manifested itself in the form of Andre Jackson Jr., who had an up-and-down rookie campaign under Adrian Griffin and Doc Rivers.

Reuniting these two former Huskies could do wonders for both players, as the familiarity between them could translate into their relationship both on and off the field.

As mentioned earlier, the Bucks have plenty of options with the No. 33 pick in the upcoming draft, but it’s possible they could operate a second-round pick on a guy like Newton.
