Milwaukee Bucks’ plan revealed if they complete Brook Lopez trade

Once All-Star great Brook Lopez may be nearing the end of his career, the Milwaukee Bucks may consider trading him. If ever, the front desk already has a plan in place for the void it will leave.

Lopez was drafted by the New Jersey Nets with the 10th overall pick 2008 NBA Draft. He spent his first nine years there, becoming the team’s all-time leading scorer.

During his early years with the Nets, Lopez was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2009 and saw his scoring average steadily augment. He was selected as an NBA All-Star in 2013 while in Brooklyn. However, his career with the team was hampered by injury-plagued seasons from 2011 to 2014.

Lopez’s game was transformed from 2014-2017 as he improved his three-point shooting and set several franchise records with the Nets. He then spent one season with the Los Angeles Lakers before joining the Bucks in 2018.

With the Bucks, Lopez continues to excel, earning All-Defensive Second Team honors in 2020 and First Team honors in 2023. He was a key part of the Bucks team that won the championship in 2021. Lopez’s twin brother, Robin, is also an NBA player , expanding the family basketball legacy.

While Lopez continues to be productive on the court, his career is still nearing the end. According to Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Bucks’ front office already has a plan if they decide to trade the massive man.

Redneck! Sports reported that the Brook Lopez center may be on the commercial market. Lopez is entering the final year of a two-year contract signed last summer and is earning $23 million.

The Journal Sentinel has learned that if the team gets rid of Lopez, finding a quality rim protector will be important to pair him with Giannis Antetokounmpo on defense. The biggest change will come on offense as the Bucks may be looking for a strong screener and rim runner as opposed to a long-range shooter on the floor.” Owczarski wrote.

Within six seasons In Milwaukee, Lopez averaged 13.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 2.2 blocks per game. The center also shot 35 percent from distance during that span, making him an integral part of the Bucks’ offense.

Time will tell whether Milwaukee gets rid of Lopez or keeps him in the coming months. In any case, time will tell whether their contingency plan to set up a traditional center will work.
