The Milwaukee Bucks performed reliably in the NBA Emirates Cup, but on the final day of the group stage, there is still no certainty that they will advance to the next round.
The Bucks will face the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday and the team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo is not complacent, because the team from the Motor City has something to play for, having an identical 3-0 record.
The best they can do is win the game and avoid this point difference complications.
Just Eight teams will advance to the next round with each group’s leaders automatically gaining one seat. The remaining two spots will be awarded to players who take the wild card spot.
The Bucks play in Group B East, followed by the Pistons with an identical record. Their match is basically a tiebreaker.
What if they lose? They will move to them. in Group B, and their fate lies in the hands of other teams.
In Eastern Group A, the New York Knicks and Orlando Magic will meet with an identical 3-0 record. The losing team will still qualify for a wild card spot.
Great thing for the Bucks, they managed to break the tie with the Boston Celtics and anyone from the Magic or Knicks.
Milwaukee Bucks’ performance so far in the NBA Cup
The Bucks decided not to play Antetokounmpo in their final NBA Cup game against Miami Heat but this does not indicate the level of interest in the NBA Emirates Cup.
On November 13, they defeated the Toronto Raptors 99-85 and then defeated the Indiana Pacers, which eliminated them from last year’s inaugural NBA season tournament.
Antetokounmpo was in the Mythical 5 last year after leading the Bucks to the semifinals.
Milwaukee is currently on a six-game winning streak after starting the season with a 2-8 record. They are back above .500 and are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
