Milwaukee Bucks to Work on Former Sixth Man of the Year Candidate

The Milwaukee Bucks continue to do everything they can to improve their roster ahead of the upcoming season. According to a up-to-date report, the team will hold a practice session this week to try to discover potential additions to their roster.

One player reportedly currently on their radar is 6-foot-10 shooting guard Will Barton.

According to NBA expert Shams Charania, Barton will be part of a group of players who will train with the Bucks in what could be described as a test for the team:

“The Bucks are in the market to sign a shooting guard and are expected to hold a workout this week in Las Vegas. Eleven-year NBA veteran Will Barton will be one of the players Exercise for Bucks this week, league sources said,” Charania reports.

The names of the other players who will train with Milwaukee have not been released, but it appears that Barton, an 11-year NBA veteran, is the most recognizable of the group,

Barton did not play in the NBA last season because he failed to sign with a team in the league. Instead, he played overseas in Spain and Puerto Rico.

The 33-year-old last played in the NBA in the 2022-23 season, when he played for the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. Barton played in a total of 56 games for both teams, averaging 6.8 points2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists while averaging 1.2 three-pointers per game with a 36.7 percent shooting percentage.

If the Bucks decide to sign Barton, he’s not expected to compete for Sixth Man of the Year honors like he did (twice) earlier in his career, but he could prove to be a viable 3-and-D option off the bench, especially with Malik Beasley leaving in free agency.
