Last season didn’t go as well as the Milwaukee Bucks had hoped, especially after adding All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. That prompted veteran Bobby Portis to send a warning to the NBA to prepare for them.
Season 2023-24 for the Milwaukee Bucks started with high hopes after acquiring Lillard in a major trade. Expectations were raised, but the reality was much different. Despite finishing third in the Eastern Conference, the team struggled to live up to its potential. While Lillard’s arrival boosted their offense, putting them at the top of the league in scoring, their defense weakened significantly, falling to the bottom of the league.
A key moment of the season was the firing of coach Adrian Griffin, despite the Bucks having a solid mid-season record. The decision was surprising and led to the hiring of Doc Rivers, whose tenure did not bring the expected improvements. The team lively seemed strained, with players often questioning their roles and coaching approach.
The season also marked the return of Khris Middleton, who was sidelined by injury but showed flashes of his former self. However, both Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo had disappointing performances relative to their draft positions, leading to disappointment among fantasy managers.
Overall, the Bucks’ season has been marred by inconsistency and a lack of defensive cohesion. With the playoffs in sight, the team’s future depends on how they address these issues and find a way to effectively maximize their star power. Fans are hoping for better synergy and more solid performances in the upcoming season.

The Last SeasonPortis averaged 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He also finished third in the league for Sixth Man of the Year honors last season, an award that ultimately went to Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
There’s no doubt Portis enters the novel season ready to break through the league. If all goes well, the Bucks could adjust to his perspective and tear up opposing teams en route to another championship.
