Patrick Beverley’s decision to play in Israel has thinned the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster. If management wants to address the issue, they could consider acquiring Kris Dunn from the Los Angeles Clippers before the trade deadline.
Dunn gained recognition as a standout player during his time at Providence College. After a successful college career, he was selected fifth overall 2016 NBA Draft by Minnesota Timberwolves.
The guard began his professional career with the Timberwolves, where he showed his potential, contributing significantly in his rookie season. However, in 2017, he was traded to the Chicago Bulls, where he continued to develop his skills as a point guard. During his career with the Bulls, Dunn had notable performances, including a record-breaking 32 points in a single game.
In 2020, he signed with the Atlanta Hawks, but injuries restricted his participation to just a few games. After his time in Atlanta, Dunn bounced around various teams, including the Agua Caliente Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers. He also played for the Capital City Go-Go and Utah Jazz, where he found fresh form.
The guard joined the Los Angeles Clippers in a sign-and-trade deal involving Russell Westbrook a few months ago. Dunn, known for his defensive prowess and playmaking ability, has continued to be a valuable asset in the league, adapting his game to the demands of different teams throughout his career.
Reason Why Milwaukee Bucks Should Try to Get Kris Dunn from Los Angeles Clippers
According to the latest NBA analysis, the Bucks would do well to acquire Dunn to improve their backcourt. This is explained in an article by Aitor Darias in Behind the Buck Pass.
“Dunn is a great defender who can press the ball, he is intelligent and well positioned without the ball so he can help and create turnovers. His determination can earn him many 50-50 balls, he can run in the open field and he can be useful in attack with his explosiveness.
He can also be a second-unit player, bringing some energy off the bench, and a starter next to Damian Lillard if the Bucks want to go more defensive and use Gary Trent Jr. as a sixth man. Whatever you want from a bench player on this Bucks team, he can bring it.” Darias wrote.
The Last SeasonDunn averaged 5.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists. The point guard averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 22 games for the Jazz in the season prior to this game. His performance this season could give the Bucks a chance to bolster their championship aspirations.
The question remains whether or not the Bucks can get Dunn from the Clippers. If they do, expect their roster to be more formidable once the fresh NBA season begins.
