There haven’t been many teams more disappointing in 2023-24 than the Milwaukee Bucks. They were expected to at least make a deep run in the NBA Playoffs. Instead, they limped into the postseason, where they were embarrassed by being eliminated in the first round by the Indiana Pacers.
Milwaukee Bucks have an aging roster
This Season 2024-25 brings novel hope to the Bucks. This will be the first full season under coach Doc Rivers. They also still have Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton. It’s a solid core. But one concern for the Bucks was recently raised by ESPN’s Zach Lowe (source: Luke Adams from HoopsRumors).
“This team is getting older and less athletic around Giannis (Antetokounmpo),” Lowe said. “They don’t have a lot of young guys on the roster. This is a team that was 17-19 under Doc Rivers before Giannis’ injury took them out of the playoffs. They just never found their footing and they need to find it fast in an Eastern Conference that has gotten better from top to bottom in the playoff race.”
As of this writing, the Bucks have six players aged 30 and overincLuding Brook Lopez (36), Lillard (34) and Middleton (33). Antetokoumpo is currently 29 years venerable but will turn 30 in December.
It’s a constant challenge for all teams in the NBA to find a way to infuse youth into their rosters, and the Bucks are no exception. Despite that, the Bucks are expected to seriously contend for a title this upcoming season. Their window isn’t as massive as it once was, but it’s a window nonetheless.
