NBA Mock Trade: Milwaukee Bucks Receive Former NBA Sixth Man of the Year in Intriguing Deal

While the Milwaukee Bucks have added talented players this offseason, there is still the question of balancing the playing field in a loaded Eastern Conference. That leaves the team with an intriguing option in Utah Jazz tight end Jordan Clarkson, a former NBA Sixth Man of the Year, and whether he will fit into the franchise’s championship plans.

Clarkson faces a tough situation heading into the upcoming season. Despite his potential and past performances, other NBA teams seem to have little interest in acquiring him. After spending over four years In Salt Lake City, Clarkson’s name has come up frequently in trade discussions, especially now as the Jazz look to develop a younger roster.

However, current reports indicate that no teams are actively pursuing a trade for the 32-year-old. Clarkson struggled with his shooting last season, finishing with just 41.3 percent from the field and a career-low 29.4 percent from beyond the arc despite averaging over 17 points per game. That drop in production has left teams hesitant to invest in him, as they worry about his recent decline in shooting.

If Clarkson stays with the Jazz, he’ll be part of a competitive defense that features rising talent like Keyonte George and Collin Sexton. The Jazz are focused on building for the future, and Clarkson’s experience could prove valuable as they navigate that transition.

According to the mock transaction proposed by For Buck Pass’ Dalton SellMilwaukee will acquire Clarkson and a second-round draft pick from the Houston Rockets in a proposed three-team deal involving the Jazz. In return, the Bucks will move towering Brook Lopez.

“Due to second-tier restrictions, the Bucks can’t combine salaries in any trade. That means they’d have to give up one of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton or Brook Lopez to absorb the point guard’s $14.1 million salary. Of course, the top three are safe, with recent reports suggesting Lopez does not participate in trade talks also.

Still, even if the Bucks were willing to make this deal, Clarkson doesn’t fit the current roster structure at all. He’s a good player, but Milwaukee doesn’t necessarily need another microwave scorer off the bench; they need defenders, and Clarkson isn’t that. Trading one of their best defenders for Clarkson would certainly be a mystery, even with a second-round pick,” Sell wrote.

As the analysis notes, adding Clarkson is no guarantee that he’ll be a good fit for the team. While that may have some impact, there’s no denying that he can work wonders off the bench and for key Bucks starters like two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. With him around, there’ll be a steady source of offense that will keep Milwaukee productive on the court.

For Clarkson, the upcoming season is crucial. He’ll need to show his scoring ability and improve his efficiency to regain his trade value. A forceful start could change the narrative around him, potentially opening the door to future opportunities. Even if he doesn’t end up in Milwaukee, the animated scorer will find a up-to-date home on the market soon enough.
