‘No matter where I am, I’ll play’ – Wisconsin Badgers 3-star CB target emerges as gigantic top target

The Wisconsin Badgers began pursuing a talented three-star cornerback who would be a great fit for the defense.

Lawrence “Jay” Timmons, a three-star linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class, has become the recruit whose Wisconsin Badgers the staff is intrigued. Timmons is a lively playmaker who could play several different positions on the field if needed. The Pennsylvania native is currently ranked as the No. 15 recruit in the state and the No. 22 defenseman in the 2026 recruiting class.

As the Wisconsin Badgers have proven in the past, the team’s eyes will be on the hidden gems in the classroom. Timmons is a talented player whose recruiting process is starting to heat up, so the Badgers have made every effort to develop a close relationship with the recruit. The recruit has already visited Penn State and Michigan and early on said he liked both programs “very much.”

Timmons also considers the Florida State Seminoles to be a top program and possibly his “dream” school due to his family ties to the school and the area. However, Timmons admitted that he is starting to like states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin much more than before.

Currently, Timmons said the recruiting process has been “super fun” but quite ponderous at times, but he has been excited about recruiting lately. Timmons said he has recently received a lot of interest from Wisconsin, Penn State, Florida State and Pitt. The recruit also heard about schools like Michigan, Temple, West Virginia and Akron, among many others.

When it comes to recruiting, Timmons already has some idea of what the future program he is committing to must include. Timmons stated, “I want it to feel like I’m talking to one of my coaches at Pine Richland, and I want it to feel real to me.” Timmons added that he is also looking for a program that will develop him “into his best possible self in school and football.”

What would Lawrence Timmons offer the Wisconsin Badgers – another program?

While the Wisconsin Badgers are just starting to connect with the recruit, the clear connection between his playing style and his defensive style is already clear.

On the field, Timmons is an absolute phenomenon, able to virtually bypass several opposing receivers in his biggest moments. As a lively defender, he also has an uncanny ability to stop on the spot when necessary, which comes in handy when facing other extremely swift attackers.

When asked about his game, Timmons stated, “My speed definitely sets me apart from others, and in addition to my speed, my playing instincts.” Timmons further stated, “I feel like no matter where I am, I’m going to play, no matter what position I’m in.” The cornerback really isn’t lying, as he can make some unique plays that, at first glance, seem like a surefire gain on offense.

With the Wisconsin Badgers in mind, Timmons would be a great fit on defense because he could act like the next Xavier Lucas. The Florida native burst onto the scene for Wisconsin, and the elusive defender is often a play that offenses forget about until it’s too behind schedule. Timmons could fill a very similar role in Wisconsin’s defense due to both his speed and ability to read a play before it happens.
