NWTF donation expands DNR turkey research in Wisconsin

The National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) is working with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on a up-to-date research project set to begin this year that will fund increased apply of trail cameras and GPS/VHF transmitters to accurately estimate turkey numbers in each range zone.
Christopher Pollentier of the DNR is a game bird scientist who works on a variety of studies on turkey recruitment and population trends. Some of that information comes from the Wisconsin DNR’s Snapshot trail camera program, but the NWTF’s involvement will expand Pollentier’s reach across the state. Pollentier and the NWTF hope that this expanded research will shed lithe on factors that affect turkey survival, recruitment and population dynamics.
