Madison (NBC 26) – Oshkosh North boys’ basketball program appeared in the semi -final duel from Wisconsin Lutheran from Wisconsin Lutheran, few people from outside themselves expected that they would reach Madison.
This faith in himself, almost led Spartan from No. 4 to a huge nervous victory over number 1, but the last second three-point shot of the rear Lister broke iron and fell on Vikings, 58-57.
The Spartans fell at 13 in the first half, but attacked to make it a ball in which they would have the lead, but eventually they could not stick.
“Today’s game is a microcosm of our season,” said Spartans Brad Weber coach. “Stay knocked down, we come back and come back harder and give ourselves a chance.”
The Spartans star Xzavion Mitchell was named on Friday in the basketball Mr. Wisconsin and began 0-8 from the floor, but lit up at the end of the first half and ended with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
“The most important thing for me was to influence the community like how they did it (Star Pacers and former Spartan Trese Haliburton) when I was younger,” said Mitchell. “To help build this program from only an inspiring, and this is the biggest thing, what is the wearing of this T -shirt – it is to think about how to inspire this community. We have not left (winning), but I know that in the stands there is a child who we want to do what we have done.”
Coach Spartans, Brad Weber, shinesly spoke about Legacy Mitchell, when now he goes to Iowa after completing this spring. Mitchell had one of the best seasons for a basketball player at a high school in Wisconsin, scoring over 1000 points. He ended his career 2824 points, the third most in the history of Wiaa.
“That’s what I love in this child, there is no consolation points for him,” said Weber. “He wants to win. He wants to win for his guys and this is what our program means – he is a guy who fully commits his teammates, for training, to school.”
