The Green Bay Packers signed rookie Deshaun Fenwick to the team’s practice squad on Tuesday. The opening on the practice squad was created by quarterback Ellis Merriweather, who was placed on the practice squad injured list.
Fenfick is a 6-1, 223-pound freshman from Oregon State. He spent three seasons at South Carolina (2018-20) before transferring to Oregon State, where in 35 games and three seasons (2021-23) he accumulated 1,516 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 17 receptions, 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
According to Pro Football Focus, Fenwick had 70 missed tackles and 63 runs of at least 10 yards during his college career.
Fenwick signed with the New England Patriots after the 2024 draft. He played in one preseason game with the Patriots, but was released on August 26.
Fenwick is currently the only running back on the Packers’ practice squad. The 53-man roster includes Josh Jacobs, Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks, with MarShawn Lloyd remaining on the non-football illness list.
