Packers are signing another player to futures contracts to start the 2025 offseason

The Green Bay Packers have signed a 20th player to a reserve/futures contract to begin the 2025 offseason. On Wednesday, the team announced the signing of defensive lineman Leonard Payne.

General manager Brian Gutekunst has signed 12 players from the team’s practice squad, seven outside free agents and now Payne to a futures deal that serves as a placeholder through the start of the 2025 league year in March and places the player in the ’90s offseason. 90 team men’s list.

Payne (6-3, 301) was not selected in Colorado’s 2024 draft. He signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins, but was released after training camp. Payne played in three preseason games for the Dolphins, logging 43 snaps. He made one tackle, four tackles and two stops for an overall grade of 59.1 on PFF.

Payne played in 41 games over four seasons at Fresno State and one at Colorado. He recorded 7.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, and also blocked two blocked field goals. Payne was credited with 38 pressures and 24 stops for a total of just over 1,000 snaps, per PFF.
