The Green Bay Packers’ biggest enemy will remain in the NFC North in the long run.
The Minnesota Vikings and All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $140 million contract. Adam Schefter of ESPN. The deal – averaging $35 million per year – makes Jefferson the highest-paid NFL receiver and highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
The historic fresh contract keeps Jefferson under contract with the Vikings through the 2028 season, meaning the Packers will see the animated pass catcher twice a year for the next several seasons.
Jefferson, still just 24, is a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro whose NFL career began with four straight 1,000-yard seasons. Kirk Cousins is now in Atlanta, so Jefferson is starting over at quarterback with veteran Sam Darnold and rookie first-round pick JJ McCarthy.
In seven career games against the Packers, Jefferson has 34 catches for 537 yards and four touchdowns, including two games of 100 or more yards. The Vikings are 3-4 against the Packers and Jefferson is dynamic.
Since entering the NFL in 2020, Jefferson has 392 catches for 5,899 yards and 30 touchdowns.
