Packers OL Jordan Morgan has announced an early breakout prospect in 2025

There’s no need to sugarcoat it. Last season was a disaster for Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Jordan Morgan. The 2024 first-round draft pick was plagued by a shoulder injury that forced him to miss most of training camp and the entire preseason, only to require season-ending surgery midway through the year.

Morgan’s debut season ended with six appearances and only one start.

Naturally, there is disappointment among Morgan because he didn’t really play the role of the main favorite. But that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. Recently identified Pro Football Focus early breakout candidates for each team in 2025and Morgan was drafted to the Packers.

Here’s what they had to say:

“Center Josh Myers will be a free agent in March, and right guard Sean Rhyan has been solid just last year (61.3 PFF overall grade). There’s a reason the Packers took Morgan in the first round and moved him to defense, even though he only played 186 snaps in 2024. The former Arizona running back allowed just three sacks and 30 pressures during his final two college seasons. Expect Morgan’s pedigree to be fully revealed in the coming year at either guard position, with versatile Elgton Jenkins potentially rotating between positions.”

When the Packers drafted Morgan, they knew they were getting a versatile lineman who could potentially play both offense and defense.

Morgan got a few reps in attack during camp, but the right-back had the best chance of getting on the field early. Before his shoulder injury worsened midway through the season, Morgan spoke to Rhyan. If not for the surgery, Morgan could have taken over as the right winger full-time.

However, despite a rocky start to his NFL career, Morgan still has plenty of upside and plans to play a key role in Green Bay’s plans for the offensive line.

First, the Packers will have to decide whether to bring Myers back. During the season-ending press conference, the general manager Brian Gutekunst praised Myers for his toughness, leadership and the chemistry he built with Jordan Love.

However, Myers is consistently rated as one of the worst centers in the league by PFF, and no one would blame Green Bay if they wanted to go in a up-to-date direction. Jenkins could be an option if Myers can walk. The two-time Pro Bowler has struggled to position quickly in his lone start at center this season, but those issues can be resolved by devoting an entire offseason to the position.

A move for Jenkins would essentially guarantee Morgan a starting spot. The Packers will make some key decisions this offseason, but it’s safe and sound to say they’re excited about Morgan’s future.

“I saw a lot of good things from him,” offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said in December. “I’m very encouraged about the future. As soon as he recovers, we’ll get him back on the field and continue to work with him, but I’m very excited for Jordan.
