Packers QB Jordan Love returns to practice on Thursday

The Green Bay Packers reportedly returned quarterback Jordan Love for practice on Thursday Wes Hodkiewicz from the band’s official website.

Love, who suffered a groin injury in Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, missed Wednesday’s practice.

Coach Matt LaFleur said Love was “limited” and didn’t want to expand his participation further during Thursday’s practice.

LaFleur said Love will have a chance to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions, whether he practices this week or not. Love’s return to the field – even in a circumscribed lineup – suggests the door is wide open for him to play in three days.

On Wednesday, Love said it’s “realistic” that he will be able to play on Sunday, but he needs to be able to move and get in and out of the pocket well enough to be available. He was removed from the game last Sunday after claiming his leg was “locked” and he could no longer protect himself. Thursday’s practices – especially in less-than-ideal weather conditions – are an opportunity for Love to test her mobility on the pitch.

Love wasn’t the only player to return on Thursday. Running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), left guard Elgton Jenkins (glute) and left guard Rasheed Walker (knee) were available for Thursday’s practice after missing Wednesday’s session. Three absences: cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), backup Evan Williams (hamstring) and center Josh Myers (wrist).

The Packers will provide an updated injury report on Thursday. A final injury report with game status indications will be sent Friday afternoon.

This post will be updated with LaFleur’s comments after practice.
