Packers RB Josh Jacobs says Jordan Love will be ‘the next superstar in this league’

It didn’t take long for Green Bay Packers quarterback Josh Jacobs to recognize the unique potential of quarterback Jordan Love.

After spending the entire offseason training with his fresh quarterback, Jacobs believes Love is ready to reach superstar status.

“In my opinion, based on what I’ve seen, he has all the traits and all the tools to be a superstar in this league,” Jacobs said. via NFL.com. “I think if he continues to play, gain experience and become more confident in his skills and what he can do, he will definitely become the next superstar in this league.”

It’s not the first time a fresh teammate has stoked the flames of a quarterback in the summer. It happens every year around the league. Jacobs, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, also hasn’t been surrounded by elite quarterback play during his NFL career.

But special players often have the ability to see special in others, and the second half of Love’s 2023 season — when he helped the Packers advance to the postseason — provided more than enough evidence of Love’s potential to be a special quarterback. The Packers also intend to pay Love like a future superstar.

Given his faith in Love, it’s no surprise that Jacobs believes “the sky’s the limit” for the Packers’ offense. Stability at quarterback, a solid offensive line and talented players at running back, receiver and tight end give Matt LaFleur — now a seasoned quarterback — all the ingredients he needs to build one of the NFL’s best offenses in 2024 and beyond.

Jacobs, a 2022 running back, signed a four-year contract to join the Packers in the offseason. He replaces Aaron Jones, one of the team’s all-time leading rushers. Can Jacobs, a standout in his own right, aid Love continue his rise to stardom?

“I think it’s going to be a special year,” Jacobs said.
