Packers Sectionals PFF Grades: Best, worst players after Week 3 win over Titans

Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson combined for 133 yards, Christian Watson and Malik Willis connected on several key third-down conversions, and the Green Bay Packers defense dominated Sunday’s 30-14 win over the Tennessee Titans.

In preventing the Titans from winning, the Packers pulled off a decisive victory both at the line of scrimmage and in the possession battle, helping Willis earn his second straight start while Jordan Love nursed a knee injury.

Here are the best and worst players from the Packers’ win over the Titans in Week 3 of the season, according to Pro Football Focus:

Top 5 crimes

1. Running back Josh Jacobs: 77.0
2. Running back Emanuel Wilson: 76.7
3. WR Christian Watson: 76.0
4. Point guard Malik Willis: 75.9
5. RT Zach Tom: 72.9

Jacobs forced two fumbles, caught his only target and gained 28 yards on first down, highlighting the tough yards he gained up the middle against the Titans’ front. Wilson forced three fumbles, had a 10-yard run, scored three first downs, caught a 35-yard touchdown pass on coverage and excelled in the pro pass rush. Watson caught both of his targets for 67 yards, including a 30-yard contested catch on third down. Willis completed 13 of 18 passes from pristine pockets and 8 of 12 passes thrown beyond the line of scrimmage, and also rushed for 73 yards and forced four fumbles. Tom had a procedural penalty declined but also didn’t allow a pressure on 26 pass-blocking tackles and was the team’s highest-graded run blocker.

Best Defense 5

1. DE Kingsley Enagbare: 92.9
2. CB Jaire Alexander: 89.2
3. Defenseman Devonte Wyatt: 78.7
4. DE Preston Smith: 77.3
5. S Xavier McKinney: 76.2

Enagbare had three pressures, including a strip sack, and three stops in 22 highly productive snaps. Alexander had a pick-six and four rushes, allowing just 45 yards on seven targets. Wyatt had three pressures and two sacks in 29 snaps. Smith led the team with four pressures. McKinney had an interception, four rushes and a defensive stop, allowing just one catch in coverage.

Bottom 5 offense

1. WR Dontayvion Wicks: 47.4
2. LG Elgton Jenkins: 51.6
3. TE Tucker Kraft: 52.4
4. TE Luke Musgrave: 53.0
5. Lt. Rasheed Walker: 53.3

Wicks ran 13 routes and didn’t catch any of his targets. Jenkins was penalized twice for holding, also had two pressures and received a impoverished grade for run-blocking. Kraft had a sack. Musgrave missed two blocks in the running game and lost his only pass-blocking reputation. Walker committed a pair of penalties but only gave up one rush.

Defense of the lower 5

1.LB Quay Walker: 35.9
2.LB Eric Wilson: 39.2
3. Defenseman Kenny Clark: 44.5
4. S Javon Bullard: 52.5
5. DL TJ Slaton: 57.7

Walker had a sack and a stop on fourth down, but was heavily criticized for his defensive work. Wilson had a pair of catches for 33 yards. Clark drew no pressure and continues to be inconsistent in the running game. Bullard allowed two catches for 27 yards. Slaton was a rusher but also had a impoverished run defense rating over 15 touchdowns.

Special teams

Evan Williams, Xavier McKinney, Eric Wilson, Zayne Anderson and Robert Rochell had special teams tackles, and Javon Bullard and Tucker Kraft assisted on tackles. Lukas Van Ness and Arron Mosby had penalties. Matt Orzech missed. Brayden Narveson made all six of his kicks, including three field goals. Daniel Whelan had a 63-yard punt return, but his net average of 36.0 yards was a season low. He had two touchbacks, two punt returns and zero punts inside the 20.

Playing the quarterback

Malik Willis: 75.6

Willis made a great throw — 30 yards to Christian Watson on first down — and didn’t have a single play worthy of turnovers. He averaged 11.2 yards per attempt and had an adjusted pass completion percentage of 83.4 from pristine pockets. Even without play action, Willis was 9 of 11 for 112 yards. He had three sacks and three fumbles. When pristine, he got rid of the ball in an average of 2.07 seconds. Willis was 3 of 6 for 85 yards on passes of more than 10 yards in the air.

Statistics to know

Titans quarterback Will Levis was pressured on 15 of his 44 dropbacks. When pressured, Levis completed just four passes for 21 yards and eight sacks. The Packers finished with 20 pressures.
