Packers sections add to DL in ESPN mock draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is 287 days away. The city of Green Bay will soon become the epicenter of the NFL universe.

There will be multiple drafts released between now and Thursday, April 24, 2025. ESPN’s Matt Miller recently released his first draft for the 2025 cycle and has the Green Bay Packers adding Ohio State’s draft pick to their defensive line Tyleik Williams with the 24th pick.

From Miller:

Green Bay has a solid group of outside hitters, but the interior team could be reset by Kenny Clark potentially becoming a free agent next spring. Second-year player Devonte Wyatt showed promise last season, but there’s room for Williams to step up next to him if Clark goes. Williams explodes off the snap at 6-2, 290 pounds. He had just three sacks last season, but has flashed impressive pass-rush moves and upswing in Round 1 throughout his career.

As Miller mentioned, Clark will become a free agent after the upcoming season, much like TJ Slaton.

It would be somewhat surprising if the Packers didn’t make it a priority to re-sign Clark. He’s had a few years under his belt, and he’s still only 28. He’s a pillar of the team, and not just on defense.

If the Packers can’t lock up Clark in an extension, the interior of the defensive line will become a huge need. Clark’s potential departure would leave the Packers with Wyatt, Karl Brooks and Colby Wooden in the middle of Green Bay’s defensive line.

Tyleik Williams appears.

Williams has a nice combination of size, mobility and strength. The defensive quarterback from Ohio State has a powerful upper body and powerful hands to push linemen back and get downfield. If he doesn’t get to the quarterback, he has shown a knack for getting his hands up to break up passes. Williams finished last season with 22 pressures and three sacks.

The former four-star recruit has the strength to stay at the point of attack and shut down running lanes. With a radar for football, Williams has the lateral athleticism to make plays up and down the line of scrimmage and finished last season with 33 stops.

Regardless of what happens with Clark, the Packers would be wise to add another potentially impactful defensive player, and Williams fits that criteria.
