Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks has been listed as doubtful to play in Week 7 against the Houston Texans.
Wicks, who injured his shoulder in last week’s win over the Arizona Cardinals, practiced on a confined basis during each of the Packers’ three practices this week. The team may wait to see how his shoulder feels on Sunday before making a decision on his playing status.
Wicks was injured on a 9-yard catch against the Cardinals. He left the game and did not return, and the Packers won 34-13.
In six games, Wicks recorded 11 catches for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Plagued by drops and a lack of contact with point guard Jordan Love, Wicks boasts a drop percentage of just 34.4% (11 on 32 targets) and a target success rate of 28.1%.
Getting Wicks hearty and back on track is necessary for the Packers to operate at peak efficiency in the passing game. As a rookie, Wicks, an elite receiver, averaged 10.0 yards per target and caught four touchdown passes. Like some second-year players, Wicks is facing a bit of a slump to start 2024.
If Wicks is unable to play, the Packers will have Jayden Reed, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs as receivers, with Bo Melton and Malik Heath in complementary roles.
The Packers also listed defensive lineman Colby Wood as questionable with a knee injury. Defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt will be sidelined for the third straight week.
