Packers sections elevate CB Robert Rochell and Kamal Hadden from practice squad for Week 4 vs. Vikings

The Green Bay Packers promoted cornerbacks Robert Rochell and Kamal Hadden from the practice squad to the Week 4 gameday squad. The move was announced Saturday, making Rochell and Hadden available to Matt LaFleur and the Packers for Sunday’s clash with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Packers may be without cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Carrington Valentine due to injuries, which will require two upgrades at the position they enter on Sunday. Alexander is questionable with groin and quad injuries, while Valentine is questionable with an ankle injury. It’s possible the Packers don’t expect Alexander to play, or they need an extra defender in case Alexander is narrow or misses the game.

It’s worth noting that the Packers did not upgrade quarterback Sean Clifford. Multiple reports indicate that Jordan Love will return on Saturday and play on Sunday against the Vikings. Malik Willis will be the backup point guard.

Rochell was promoted last week and played 12 special teams snaps. Hadden was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 draft by the Kansas City Chiefs and arrived in Green Bay on August 30. He will make his NFL debut if he plays the snap on Sunday.

If Alexander and Valentine are unable to play, Eric Stokes and Corey Ballentine will be the expected starters at cornerback.

Each team may designate a maximum of two players from the practice squad each week. An individual player can only be promoted from the training squad three times per season, so Rochell has one upgrade left. Hadden has two. Rochell and Hadden will return to the practice squad on Monday.

Increases by week

Week 1: RB Ellis Merriweather
Week 2: QB Sean Clifford
Week 3: QB Sean Clifford, CB Robert Rochell
Week 4: CB Robert Rochell, CB Kamal Hadden
