The Packers and 49ers are the only two teams with at least 15 electrifying plays in four weeks. Green Bay also has incredible playmaking depth, with nine different players currently playing explosively. And it won’t be a surprise if Jordan Love, Luke Musgrave, or even rookie MarShawn Lloyd eventually join the roster.
In week five, the Packers will travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams, who have only 18 electrifying plays to their credit, including just five explosive runs.
Why are explosive plays vital? They often create immediate scoring opportunities. Marching methodically around the field is one way to play offense, but the best teams skip the tedious work and create gigantic chunks of play. Especially as average field position improves with the recent kickoff rules, even one explosive offensive play can put a team within field goal range.
