Packers sections way too early. 2025 Draft Preview: PFF’s Top 10 Safeties

As I wrap up my preparations for the 2025 NFL Draft for the Green Bay Packers, we’ll take a look at the safety situation with 10 names to keep an eye on during the upcoming college football season.

Pro Football Focus recently reviewed all 11 positions and selected the top 10 draft prospects from each. This is who they chose in a sheltered place. For more information on each player, click Here.

Since we’re sitting here about 10 months before the 2025 NFL Draft, it’s a little reckless of me to sit here and talk with any certainty about how the Packers will approach these three days, especially given the numerous curveballs that GM Brian Gutekunst has thrown at us during his term.

However, with that said, it is extremely complex to imagine a scenario where safety is the Packers’ focus. Perhaps by the end of Day 3, as position needs take a backseat and teams are looking for high-level features to bet on, we could see Gutekunst add something to the game, but that’s all.

In just one offseason, the Packers overhauled this position group, investing heavily in this unit just a year after doing the complete opposite.

In free agency, the Packers will sign Xavier McKinney to a four-year, $67 million contract that will run him through the 2027 season.

Then in the draft, Gutekunst would select a second-round pick on Javon Bullard, a fourth-round pick on Evan Williams and a fifth-round pick on Kitan Oladapo. What’s more, Anthony Johnson has two years left on his rookie contract.

With five players under contract, the Packers will need to fill out that group with additional players for training camp. This could be done by re-signing players like Zayne Anderson or Benny Sapp, bringing in an undrafted rookie or two, or, as already mentioned, a late-round pick.

However, at this point I can’t imagine them selecting this position early or even mid-round.
