Packers trade seventh-round pick for Titans pick for QB Malik Willis

Jordan Love appears to have a recent backup. The Green Bay Packers are sending the seventh overall pick in the 2025 draft to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for quarterback Malik Willis, according to Adam Schefter from ESPN.

The addition of Willis before final cuts suggest he will be Love’s backup, or at least part of the solution, for the start of the 2024 season. Sean Clifford, a fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft, and Michael Pratt, a seventh-round pick in the 2024 draft, competed during training camp for Love’s backup spot.

During the 2024 preseason, Willis completed 20 of 27 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He completed 74.1 percent of his passes and averaged 7.6 yards per attempt.

His regular-season experience is narrow. Willis has played in 11 games over two seasons. He has completed 35 of 66 passes for 350 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown.

The Titans spent the 86th pick in the 2022 draft on Willis, a Georgia native who was a star with the Liberty.

Mason Rudolph is expected to be the Titans’ backup quarterback behind Will Levi’s in 2024. The Packers will play the Titans in Week 3 in Nashville.
