Packers will face 9 of top 10 WRs in rushing yards/routes in 2024

The Green Bay Packers cornerbacks will have no shortage of challenges in the 2024 season. Top 10 receivers by yards per route run Last season, nine of them were on the Packers’ regular-season roster — the lone exception was CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys.

In 2024, the Packers will face the following players:

1. Tyreek Hill, MIA (3.72 yards per run)

2. Nico Collins, HOU (3.11)
3. Justin Jefferson, MIN (2.91)
4. Puka Nacua, LAR (2.75)
6. Brandon Aiyuk, SF (2.65)
7. Amon Ra St. Brown, DET (2.59)
8. Jaylen Waddle, missing (2.52)
8. AJ Brown, PHI (2.52)
10. Keenan Allen, CHI (2.36)

The Packers will also face Chicago’s DJ Moore, who ranked 12th with a 2.31 average, and San Francisco’s Deebo Samuel, who ranked 13th with a 2.21 average. Overall, the Packers have 16 of the top 25 receivers in yards per route run from 2023 (min. 100 targets) on the 2024 schedule.

Four of the top 12 players are in the NFC North — Jefferson, St. Brown, Allen and Moore.

Additionally, rookies Marvin Harrison Jr. — the 4th overall pick — and Rome Odunze — the 9th overall pick — are also on the roster. As are later first-round picks Brian Thomas Jr. and Ricky Pearsall.

There is no doubt: there will be plenty of activities with the participation of talented talents.

Effectively covering No. 1 receivers typically requires a legitimate No. 1 cornerback, and the Packers have two-time All-Pro Jaire Alexander trying to rebound from a disappointing 2023 season and reestablish himself as an elite player. All of the top receivers on the Packers’ 2024 roster give Alexander the perfect opportunity to do just that.

The Packers appear to have two other large question marks in coverage heading into training camp: How will Jeff Hafley’s fresh defensive scheme affect the cornerbacks, and who will start opposite Alexander? The Packers expect to be more aggressive in coverage, potentially putting more press men on the outside. In terms of personnel, Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine are the top options to start on the perimeter.

The Packers face a large challenge on defense in 2024. Will they be up to the challenge?
