The Green Bay Packers elevated linebacker Robert Rochell from the practice squad to the gameday squad in Week 8. The move was announced Saturday, making Beck available to Matt LaFleur and the Packers for Sunday’s clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Packers may need depth on special teams, with linebacker Corey Ballentine (ankle) doubtful to play.

Rochell was transferred from the practice squad in Weeks 3 and 4 and signed to the 53-man roster for Week 5. He played 34 snaps on special teams and made two tackles in three games. He also missed one reception and committed one penalty kick.

Rochell played snaps, including kickoffs (14) and punts (9) and a punt return (9) for coordinator Rich Bisaccia.

The Packers did not draft a linebacker or offensive lineman, even though Quay Walker and Josh Myers were listed as questionable.

Each team may designate a maximum of two players from the practice squad each week. An individual player can only be promoted from the practice squad three times per season, so Rochell is out of promotions and would have to sign up to the vigorous roster to play for the Packers again this season. Rochell will return to the training squad on Monday.

The Packers have promoted at least one player in each of the first eight weeks of 2024.
