Packers Wire Sections Personnel Predictions: Week 7 vs. Texans

The Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans will face off at Lambeau Field on Sunday in one of the best matchups of Week 7. The matchup won’t take place in prime time, but the Packers will be wearing all-white helmets/uniforms with “Winter Warning” written on them and will be a battle between two of the best coaches and two of the best adolescent quarterbacks in the NFL.

Here’s how the Week 7 matchup against the Texans will play out, according to the Packers Wire staff:

Zach Kruse: Packers 27, Texans 24 (2-4)

The Texans have a top quarterback (C.J. Stroud), a productive and versatile running back (Joe Mixon), a lethal receiver (Stefon Diggs), a veteran and consistent offensive line, two dominant pass rushers (Will Anderson Jr., Danielle Hunter), a legitimate top defender (Derek Stingley Jr.) and a reliable special teams group. So while DeMeco Ryans’ team is broken, especially defensively, the challenge of facing the Texans, who have won nine of their last 12 regular-season games, on Sunday cannot be underestimated. Still, it’s demanding not to like the Packers in this matchup. Jordan Love’s offense is hearty and starting to hit its stride, and quarterbacks need to step up where the Texans are hurting defensively. And not facing Nico Collins is a gigantic aid to Jeff Hafley’s group. I expect a close game, but I also expect the Texans’ absences to reflect in several critical moments later in the game. Brandon Carwile: Packers 28, Texans 24 (4-2)

Houston picked up right where it left off last season, when it made some noise by winning the AFC South and reaching the playoffs with a rookie quarterback. CJ Stroud has been as good as any quarterback in the first six weeks, but losing winger Nico Collins is a huge blow. The Texans have the 14th-ranked rushing offense, while the Packers have a top-10 rushing defense. If Green Bay can make Houston one-dimensional without their top receiver, it could come in handy for them. Offensively, the Packers appear to be turning the corner. Jordan Love had a great day in the air in last week’s win over the Arizona Cardinals, but this game may have come down to Josh Jacobs’ offense against a defenseless Texans defense. Ultimately, this match should be full of offense and a lot of points. I think Green Bay will win with a tardy touchdown and get their first signature victory in 2024.

Greg Williams: Packers 31, Texans 30 (4-2)

First of all, I can’t believe this game isn’t in prime time. You have two adolescent and great playmakers, two invigorating teams and two coaches who have performed well for their teams. Besides, this game will be closed and it will be hard to determine the real winner of this game. The Texans have a loaded lineup and are tough to face given their talent. However, the Packers are playing good football right now and things seem to be going well on offense and defense. Who knows, maybe fresh kicker Brandon McManus is the answer to some of the problems. Expect lots of points in this match. I’m not saying that we will struggle in defense, but simply both attacks are very vigorous and explosive. Regardless of who wins, it will be a signing during the season. Ultimately, the Packers have to deal with this, especially since it’s a home game, and for personal reasons, a win would be nice on my wedding day.
