Week six will feature Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals, but also Melton vs. Melton at Lambeau Field.
Bo Melton, the Packers’ third-year wide receiver, will have a chance to face Max Melton, the Cardinals’ second-round pick at the cornerback position, on Sunday, Oct. 13 in Green Bay.
Elder Melton is looking forward to meeting his younger brother.
“I knew we were playing the Cardinals this year, but I couldn’t wait to play them. When I saw week six, I thought, ‘OK, this will be good,'” Melton said Tuesday. “No more yard. Big stage. He will be ready for it and I will definitely be ready.”
Melton said he usually trained with his brother in the offseason, and they often met one-on-one during workouts at Rutgers.
“It will be different, seeing him on the other side, but it will definitely be fun,” Melton said. “He’s competitive… I was always getting to him, he used to get to me a few times when he was a little older. Definitely ready for week 6.”
Bo’s advice for Max entering the NFL? Keep grinding. A seventh-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, Bo landed on the practice squad as a rookie, but ultimately blossomed after arriving in Green Bay. Now he’s on track to become a legitimate weapon in the Packers passing game in 2024.
The Meltons, who as kids created their own players on Madden with the goal of making it to the NFL, are now both playing in the league and ready to take advantage of their opportunities.
“We finally made it happen, which was definitely a blessing. We are cheerful to be here. I know he’s cheerful to be here. We’re just going to keep working,” Melton said.
Max went to the Cardinals with the 43rd overall pick in the 2024 draft. Bo said he had a feeling Max would go to Arizona after visiting there before the draft.
“I was extremely happy,” Melton said. “He went on an official visit to Arizona, so when I saw them on the clock, man, they’re going to call him. They called him. My family cried. They were excited. I’m very excited to see it. We’re playing them in week six, so we’re really excited to see him there as well.
The Meltons’ journey to the NFL comes full circle on October 13 at Lambeau Field.
