The Green Bay Packers said in their final injury report that wide receiver Christian Watson is eligible to play against the Chicago Bears in Sunday’s season finale.
Watson returned to constrained training for the first time since his injury on Monday, December 23. He missed last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings because he didn’t practice all week and was listed as questionable on the final injury report.
Coach Matt LaFleur said he was “encouraged” to get Watson on the field again, but did not promise whether he would play on Sunday, saying his status was still “uncertain.”
Watson suffered a bruise on his knee against the New Orleans Saints in Week 16.
In 14 games, Watson recorded 29 catches for 620 yards and two touchdowns and four rushes for 23 yards. He was the Packers’ most energetic pass catcher between Week 11 and his injury, and he had a career-best 150 yards on just four catches in the first game against the Bears.
The Packers have a playoff spot secured heading into the final week, so it’s possible the team will protect Watson for another week to ensure there’s no loss before the season.
Brenton Cox Jr. plays defense. is also questionable due to a foot injury. He didn’t practice at all this week. The Packers ruled out five players: cornerback Jaire Alexander, linebacker Quay Walker, backup Evan Williams, backup Zayne Anderson and offensive tackle Andre Dillard.
