The Green Bay Packers reportedly brought in wide receivers Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson to practice, while Matt LaFleur’s team began preparing for its game against the Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday. Mike Spofford from the band’s official website.
Doubs was reinstated after serving a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team last week. He missed practice on Thursday and Friday and was suspended for Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams. Doubs and LaFleur had a conversation on Monday, and the team expected the third-year winger to return to work on Wednesday.
Watson missed last week’s win with an ankle injury suffered against the Minnesota Vikings. He was listed as questionable to play, suggesting a return in the near future. Watson’s participation on Wednesday, even in a restricted lineup, opens the door for him to play Sunday against the Cardinals.
Doubs and Watson, two draft picks in the 2022 draft class, are elder statesmen in the Packers’ receiving room. Doubs has 12 catches for 167 yards in four games this season, while Watson has five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in four games.
It won’t have the great third season they probably expected in 2024 either. Doubs was elite last year in the postseason, catching 10 passes for 234 yards. Meanwhile, Watson was finally fit to start the season after building symmetry in his leg muscles in the offseason.
Jayden Reed leads the team and ranks fifth in the NFL with 414 receiving yards, while Dontayvion Wicks and Tucker Kraft have the team’s three-most receiving touchdowns.
According to Spofford, the only non-participant in Wednesday’s practice was defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt, who suffered an ankle injury. LaFleur said he was unable to walk on the field this week and hopes to return soon.
Cornerback Jaire Alexander, who was inactive on Sunday with a groin injury, and tight end Luke Musgrave, who missed practice last week with an ankle injury, were both available Wednesday.
The Packers will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday.
