Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs made an immediate splash upon returning from injury, catching three passes for 40 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers’ victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. Few players were happier to have Doubs back in the lineup than point guard Jordan Love.
“You always want your best players to be healthy and it was tough not having Roma on the field, but getting him back and obviously his two tries tonight were huge,” Love said. “You know, he’s one of our best playmakers on offense, so it’s always good to have him back on the field.”
Doubs sealed the victory for the Packers with a 22-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. He blew through a pair of defenders in the first quarter for a 12-yard scoring strike that gave the Packers a 14-0 lead.
Doubs missed the last two games with a concussion, forcing him to don the Ranger Cap for the first time in a game. Doubs said it was entirely his decision to put extra protective padding on his helmet.
“Better safe than sorry,” said Doubs, who was hospitalized for nearly three weeks for a concussion resulting from a blow to the head he suffered on Nov. 24 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Not that there’s any correlation, but Doubs had an impressive performance in his first match for Guardian Cap. However, he is not sure if he will continue to wear it.
“Honestly, I don’t even know,” Doubs said. “I don’t want it to be a prejudice that I have to wear it despite the performance.”
Guardian Caps were first introduced to the league in 2020. Caps are a cushioned helmet cover that helps reduce the effects of impacts and head injuries. According to NFL research, they are able to absorb at least 10% of the impact force and reduce concussions by 52%.
Protective hats are required for all players during training camp practices, but an increasing number of players have started wearing them during games during the 2024 season.
Doubs is the first Packers player to wear the Guardian Cap during a game this season. Time will tell if he continues to wear the Guardian Cap, but given its protective properties, it could aid prevent future head injuries.
