Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) presents “longing”, April concerts with the participation of the third and last season conductor, Joseph Young and the genre of a string trio for three. Young gives us an idea of what to predict at this stimulating concert – “this program is an auditory invitation to the ideals of peace, love and connection that lead forward long after recent notes.” The concert begins with the concise and dramatic second essay of Samuel Barber for the orchestra. Then the violinist Nicolas Kendall and Charles Yang, along with the double bass player Ranana Meyer, also known as Time for Three, join Symphony performing Kevin’s contact, who is grammatically awarded especially for the group. Overwhelmed in the summer of 2020, contact has gained fresh meaning as an expression of longing with man’s contact during the pandemic peak. The choice of Maestro Young movements from one of the largest areas of the 20th century ballet, Romeo and Julia Prokofiev, will make us miss more.
The performances of “Longing” will take place on Friday, April 11 at 19:30, Saturday, 12 April at 19:30 and Sunday, April 13 at 14:30 at Overture Hall, 201 State Street.
