There is no denying that Caitlin Clark has been a boon to the WNBA since she was recently selected in the first draft. Even someone like Milwaukee Bucks veteran Patrick Beverley recently recognized her as one of the most vital players in the sport.
Clark first established herself as one of the top high school prospects in 2020. Although she was originally committed to Notre Dame, the point guard made her way to the Iowa Hawkeyes and played there for four years.
During her senior year of women’s college basketball, Clark cemented her legacy by breaking Pete Maravich’s venerable record and becoming NCAA all-time leading scorer. However, she was unable to lead Iowa to the championship as it lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the final round.
Shortly after this loss, Clark was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Along with this honor, the rookie landed multiple endorsement deals with the likes of Nike and Panini, making her one of the most successful female athlete brands in recent history. Additionally, its popularity paved the way for WNBA players to receive charter flights to ensure their safety while traveling around the game.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley reveals Caitlin Clark’s impact on the WNBA
Bucks guard Patrick Beverley recently mentioned his list of the five most influential figures to have played in the NBA and WNBA, in addition to Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, Chicago Bulls icon Michael Jordan, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and Lakers forward LeBron. James, Los Angeles Sparks by Master Candace Parkerhe mentioned Clark in a video he shared on his The official account of the X podcast: :

Even though Clark hasn’t played many games in the WNBA these days, her arrival has made it easier for women to get charter flights from the WNBA. This opens up more opportunities for these women to gain more benefits as the league begins to gain popularity.
Without a doubt, Clark’s recognition from the Bucks vet is beneficial to her career and women’s basketball as a whole. Here’s hoping the Indiana Fever star has a long career to make a bigger impact on the sport.
