The No. 13 USC Trojans will face the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday, with the game scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. ET on CBS. USC is 2-1 to start the season, but is 0-1 in BIG10 Conference play after losing to the No. 12 Michigan Wolverines 27-24 last Saturday.
As for Wisconsin, they are 2-1 on the season and this will be the first BIG10 conference game for the Badgers this season. This is a must-win match for both teams, with both teams struggling with various injuries.
USC Trojans Tight End Lake McRee will likely miss time and most likely won’t play this weekend against the Wisconsin Badgers
Trojans running back Lake McRee suffered a low blow to his knee against the Michigan Wolverines. USC feared it would be a season-ending injury for him, but fortunately that was not the case. Head coach of the Trojans Lincoln Riley said during his live appearance on Trojans:
“Lake is a great player. Too bad he’s not here right away, but we’ll get him back soon.
McRee was injured on the first drive of the second half against the Michigan Wolverines and did not return to the game. Lake McRee struggled in the game, finishing with three receptions for -3 yards and zero touchdowns against the Michigan Wolverines defense.
On the season, he caught 12 passes for 134 yards and zero touchdowns, and averaged 11.2 yards per catch. Lake McRee is currently entering his junior season with the USC Trojans. Freshman Kade Eldridge this is expected to be the start of USC’s tight end against the Wisconsin Badgers.
This season, he caught two passes for 17 yards and zero touchdowns and averaged 8.5 yards per catch. In McRee’s absence, Eldridge will play a larger role on the team.
The Badgers are without Tyler Van Dyke
In addition to the Trojans’ key injuries, the Wisconsin Badgers will be without point guard Tyler Van Dyke for the rest of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Instead, Braedyn Locke will start in the starting position.
Locke will need to play well against Miller Moss for the Badgers to have any chance of overcoming the situation. However, the USC Trojans are much deeper than the Wisconsin Badgers.
