Research reveals a range of recent challenges facing waterfowl as migration patterns evolve

Every autumn Great Passage is different.
This is the nature of waterfowl migration. Experienced duck and goose hunters on all flyways – Pacific, Central, Mississippi and Atlantic – know this well.
Some years waterfowlers see many birds at about the same time and in about the same places, and the next year it may be completely different. Change is a constant.
“Migration varies from year to year,” said a Southern waterfowl biologist. “But there is more to this story.”
