Research shows that ticks can spread CWD in the deer population

A study published on May 15, 2023 suggests that ticks may be a vector for the spread of CWD among cervids. Heather Inzalaco, lead researcher on the study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, said she encountered this problem and once she started learning more about it, she hasn’t looked back.
The study found that prions in ticks from three CWD-infected deer heads had an infectious dose range of 0.3 to 42.4 per tick.
