The Green Bay Packers will travel thousands of miles to play the Philadelphia Eagles in a night game in Brazil to start the 2024 season, but Matt LaFleur’s team is then scheduled to play three straight games and six of the next seven starting at noon, including four at Lambeau Field.
Coach Matt LaFleur said a noon start to end the three-game preseason schedule (home vs. Ravens) will facilitate his players begin their normal game-day schedule before the noon start.
“Our boys better wake up with hot piss,” LaFleur told Larry McCarren of Packers.com. “They need to prepare to leave. I think we’ll play an early game in pre-season to facilitate the guys get acclimatized to that rhythm.
The Packers currently have eight games scheduled to start at noon in 2024, although a elastic schedule and Week 18 could add or subtract to the total.
Last season, the Packers played eight games starting at noon. They went 4-4 overall, but losses included deadpan performances against the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field.
“We are excited. We’re excited to have a plan for the season. Of course, a schedule is a schedule. Our attitude is that we have to give our all, regardless of when and where we play. However, we are excited to implement our plan.
The Packers will actually play 10 straight games between noon and 3:25 p.m. between weeks 2 and 12. From this point on, the Packers will play four straight primetime games.
“It’s definitely going to be a tough four-game stretch,” LaFleur said.
