Sections Contract details for Packers first-round pick OL Jordan Morgan

The Green Bay Packers have officially acquired Jordan Morgan with a first-round draft pick. Above the Cap now has details on what Morgan’s rookie deal will look like.

Morgan earned a standard four-year rookie contract worth a total of $14.185 million with a signing bonus of $7.136 million and a $1.085 million roster bonus available for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Morgan will receive his full signing bonus upfront, but in terms of the salary cap, this amount may be prorated over the life of the contract. In miniature, the maximum cap on this bonus in 2024 is just $1.784 million.

This prorated signing bonus amount plus a base salary of $795,000 will constitute Morgan’s cap hit this season, which is $2.579 million.

Going forward, after 2024, the $1.784 million cap hit from the prorated signing bonus will be booked by the Packers for all four years of the contract, and Morgan’s base salary will also raise each year.

In 2025, Morgan’s base salary will be $960,000. It will raise to $1.478 million in 2026 and then to $2.729 million in 2027. As a first-round pick, the Packers will have the option to elect or decline Morgan’s five-year option for the 2028 season.

Here’s a breakdown of Morgan’s best results each season:

2024: $2.579 million
2025: $3.223 million
2026: $3.868 million
2027: $4.513 million

At the beginning of OTAs and minicamp, the Packers put a lot on Morgan’s mind, asking him to play both offensive and defensive positions during practices. Ultimately, the Packers are trying to gather enough data to accurately assess where Morgan best fits as they look for a “top five” on the offensive line.

My guess is that once Morgan finds a home there will be more clarity on what the starting setup will look like. But, as Matt LaFleur said during minicamp, they won’t really be able to tell until practice starts and they don the pads.
