Bullard will receive his full signing bonus upfront, but from a salary cap perspective, that amount could be prorated over the life of the deal. In miniature, the maximum cap on this bonus in 2024 is just $424,297.

This prorated signing bonus amount plus a base salary of $795,000 will constitute Bullard’s largest cap hit this season at $1.219 million.

Looking ahead, beyond 2024, the $424,297 cap hit from the prorated signing bonus will be booked by the Packers over all four years of the contract, along with an annual boost in Bullard’s base salary.

In 2025, Bullard’s base salary will be $1.099 million. In 2026, it will boost to $1.404 million, and in 2027 – $1.709 million.

Here’s what Bullard’s hit will be each season:

2024: $1.219 million
2025: $1.524 million
2026: $1.828 million
2027: $2.133 million

Throughout the offseason, when GM Brian Gutekunst was asked about the safety position, he routinely used the word “interchangeable” to describe what he was looking for, which meant he wanted two cornerbacks and a nickel back who could cover all three roles. .

Bullard fits this description perfectly. He comes into the NFL as Georgia’s starting corner in 2022 and a safety in 2023, and has played in 169 career games right now. In addition to his versatility, Bullard also brings a fast-paced and physical style of play to the Packers’ secondary.

“I can play all three positions in the second division,” Bullard said. “Whatever you want me to play. I feel like I proved my versatility in the process, man, being able to protect slot guys and being able to defend tight ends and also being able to go down to the box and get dirty with running backs and things like that. so I feel like I can play my heart out.”
