The Green Bay Packers have finalized their 17-player practice squad ahead of the first week of the 2024 season.
The practice squad consists of nine offensive players, seven defensive players and one specialist. While the typical practice squad consists of 16 players, the Packers have an extra spot through the International Player Pathway program.
Here’s the full practice squad:
Quarterback Sean Clifford: The 2023 fifth-round pick failed to earn the No. 2 spot this summer but could become Jordan Love’s backup if Malik Willis isn’t ready in Week 1.
Running Ellis Merriweather: Rushed for 99 yards in preseason. Tough runner who held his own despite average run blocking this summer.
RB La’Mical Perine: The 2020 fourth-round draft pick has experience playing three downs and special teams, and could be an early-season upgrade as MarShawn Lloyd recovers from a hamstring injury.
FB Andrew Beck: A five-year NFL veteran who could fit into the H-back role for Matt LaFleur, he was a guest with the Packers prior to the 2019 draft.
WR Julian Hicks: The unrecruited rookie has high-level athletic skills that are worth developing, especially after he made several spectacular plays during the pre-season.
WR Jalen Wayne: The South Alabama standout and relative of Reggie Wayne spent last year as a rookie with the Bills and Browns.
TE Messiah Swinson: The Packers selected Swinson, a substantial, blocking inline, over Joel Wilson, who flashed more talent at receiver. He went undrafted this year out of Arizona State.
OL Lecitus Smith: The Cardinals’ sixth-round pick in 2022 can play guard or center, providing veteran versatility on the offensive line. He played in 123 snaps for the Packers in the preseason.
OL Donovan Jennings: An undrafted rookie out of USF with experience on offense but the athleticism and potential to be a valuable cornerback prospect, the Packers spent substantial money to bring him to Green Bay, but injuries derailed his chances of making the roster.
FROM Deslin Alexandre: I spent some time with the Jets and Bears as a rookie last year before joining the Packers. I stood out in OTAs but got hurt in camp.
Lieutenant James Ester: Undrafted free agent out of NIU. Deflected a pass that turned into an interception in the preseason.
LB Chris Russell Jr.: An undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M and former teammate of Edgerrin Cooper. Highly rated in the last two preseason games.
CB Robert Rochell: The veteran corner played on defense and special teams for the Packers last season before injuring his hip overdue in camp. He could be an early move-up and 53-man roster option if the corner is injured during the season.
CB Kamal Hadden: The Chiefs’ sixth overall pick this year, the 23-year-old was headed for a standout season at Tennessee in 2022 before suffering a shoulder injury.
CB Kalen King: The Packers’ seventh overall pick this year. Flashed playmaking ability over the summer. Needs time to develop in the slot, but has potential.
S Omar Brown: I visited the Packers before the draft. I spent training camp with the Denver Broncos.
K Alex Hale (IPP): Undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State. Originally from Australia. Will have a chance to develop as a kicking prospect in Green Bay and a backup option behind Brayden Narveson.
Following recent waivers, the Packers signed quarterback Nate McCrary to the practice squad but placed him on the injured reserve list on Friday.
