The Green Bay Packers lost wide receiver Christian Watson and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt to ankle injuries during Sunday’s 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Watson’s left foot became trapped under a defender as he was rolled awkwardly to the ground while taking aim in the first quarter. He was moved from the sideline to the locker room. Wyatt was injured at the line of scrimmage after catching Justin Jefferson in the fourth quarter and returned to the locker room under his own power. None returned to the game.
Coach Matt LaFleur said he spoke with Watson, who believed his injury was a sprain. For Jordan SchultzThe Packers believe Watson has a high ankle sprain, but further testing will be necessary on Monday. The ankle sprain will likely sideline Watson for several weeks.

Wyatt told Wes Hodkiewicz about the band’s official website that he didn’t think the injury was stern, but an MRI was scheduled for Monday.
On Sunday, Watson saw only one target. He caught two passes for 67 yards in the Packers’ Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans and has five catches for 80 yards and a score in four games in 2024.
Wyatt was one of the Packers’ best and most vital offensive players. He had two sacks against the Titans and currently leads the team with three sacks. On Sunday, he had the opportunity to make up for the losses.
LaFleur will meet with the media again on Monday afternoon, so there could be an update on both situations soon. The Packers won’t report their Week 5 injury report until Wednesday. Green Bay goes on the road to play the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday. It’s possible Watson and Wyatt will be absent from the competition. Short-term injured reserve – meaning missing four games – could be an option.
LaFleur said the Packers do not believe Jaire Alexander’s groin injury, which sidelined him on Sunday, is a long-term problem.
