Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love said he feels “comfortable” on the offensive line after the team put in a stellar performance to shut down the Baltimore Ravens defense during Thursday’s joint practice.
The Ravens have produced 60 sacks in the 2023 season. Love was mostly unfettered in the pocket on Thursday in Green Bay.
“They did a great job. It was awesome today,” Love said after practice. “The Ravens do a lot of different things, they put a lot of different pressures on you, and I thought those guys handled it really well on offense. We had some transitions in the protection, but they did a really good job of just passing it off and figuring out who they needed to pick off. I felt good out there all day, so kudos to the offensive line.”
The Packers signed Rasheed Walker at left tackle, Elgton Jenkins at left guard, Josh Myers at center, Sean Rhyan at right guard and Zach Tom at right tackle, a combination that was used in multiple snaps slow last season. First-round pick Jordan Morgan, a contender at right guard, is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
“I feel comfortable with the whole group,” Love said.
If there’s a question mark for the Packers’ offensive line entering 2024, it might be the offensive line. Rhyan or Morgan would be the first full-time starters. Myers has had ups and downs. Walker and Tom are entering their second seasons as starters at tackle. And depth could be an issue after losing Jon Runyan Jr. and Yosh Nijman in free agency.
One practice together is just one practice together, but the Packers passed an essential test.
The offense will be hoping the confidence of camp carries over into September. In two weeks, the Philadelphia Eagles’ deep and talented defensive front will await Love and the Packers in Brazil. Can the offensive line rise to the occasion and provide a solid foundation for what could be one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses?
