Green Bay Packers receiver Jayden Reed leads all NFL receivers in catches of at least 20 yards and extremely rushing plays through the first four weeks of the 2024 season (pending Monday night’s results).
On Sunday, Reed added three more catches of 20 or more yards against the Minnesota Vikings, bringing his season total to seven, tying him with Nico Collins, Jauan Jennings and Malik Nabers in the NFL.
Coach Matt LaFleur said Reed sets the tone for the Packers.
“I love the energy he brings. And not just on game day, but every day,” LaFleur said. “We’re joyful to have a guy like that. He sets the tone. He really is. I love the way he competes and prepares for every battle.
Reed also has four rushing attempts of at least 15 yards, giving him 11 extremely explosive plays in four games. With 427 total yards, he ranks seventh among NFL players and second among receivers. His 18.6 yards per touch average is first among players with at least 250 scrimmage yards.
LaFleur said Reed had three impressive catches against the Vikings. The first was a 15-yard touchdown catch just before half that brought the Packers back into the game. He later added catches of 42 yards and 21 yards during a Packers blitz behind schedule in the fourth quarter.
With Love under center in Week 1, Reed had catches of 70 yards, 33 yards and 26 yards.
With the Packers more focused on the running game and Malik Willis under center in weeks two and three, Reed turned a total of 10 receptions into 115 yards.
Reed totaled 312 yards in weeks one and four, including 138 receiving yards in the first half and 139 receiving yards (a up-to-date career high) on Sunday.
It’s early, of course, but Reed is averaging a ridiculous 15.3 yards per target (second in the NFL) and 3.17 yards per route run (third, tied with Justin Jefferson).
We expect the Packers to be without Christian Watson for at least a week, potentially giving Reed more opportunities to make breakout plays in the coming weeks. Green Bay travels to Los Angeles to play the Rams on Sunday.
In four games, Reed has nearly 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns.
