The Green Bay Packers ruled out cornerback Jaire Alexander, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and receiver Romeo Doubs, and listed tight end John FitzPatrick, linebacker Isaiah McDuffie and center Josh Myers on their final injury report before their Week 13 Thanksgiving game against the Miami Dolphins as questionable.
How will the injury affect the summer games?
Here’s a detailed breakdown of the Packers’ final injury report heading into Week 13:
Exit (3)
CB Jaire Alexander (knee): He did not take part in work on the pitch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Alexander aggravated his knee ligament injury in Chicago and likely needed a week or two to return to the field. He may return for the game against the Lions next Thursday. Expect more Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon and Eric Stokes at cornerback.
LB Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring): The rookie suffered a hamstring injury in training last Wednesday, making it unlikely he would return to play eight days later. He will miss the second game in a row. The Packers will need Quay Walker, Eric Wilson and perhaps even rookie Ty’Ron Hopper to handle snaps at linebacker.
WR Romeo Doubs (concussion): Meeting the league’s three-day concussion protocol was always going to be a major challenge for Doubs, who suffered a head injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the 49ers. He will miss his second game this year, the first due to injury. Expect Donyatvion Wicks, Bo Melton and Malik Heath to see more of Christian Watson and Jayden Reed in goal.
Doubtful (3)
TE John FitzPatrick (back): He’s the third-string quarterback, so if he can’t play, the Packers will be shorthanded at that position. Tucker Kraft and Ben Sims handle most of the tight end duties, but FitzPatrick has played some snaps on offense and special teams over the past month.
LB Isaiah McDuffie (ankle): Potentially massive considering Cooper is out. McDuffie has played in all 11 games as a linebacker for the Packers this season. If he can’t go, the Packers will have three vigorous linebackers on Thursday night.
C Josh Myers (breast): The Packers estimate Myers will be a full participant on Wednesday, so there is a good chance he will play on Thursday. Last week he struggled with a wrist injury and now he will have to deal with a chest injury. Elgton Jenkins is the backup at center.
No status indication
The following players do not have a status designation and will be available to play for Thursday’s game against the Dolphins: DL Kenny Clark, RB Josh Jacobs, OL Elgton Jenkins, S Xavier McKinney, LT Rasheed Walker.
McKinney missed Tuesday for personal reasons, but returned Wednesday as a full participant. At the beginning of the week, Clark, Jacobs and Jenkins went on veteran’s rest.
Dolphin Injury Report
The Dolphins ruled out cornerback Kendall Fuller, linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. and defenseman Tyus Bowser. Left-back Terron Armstead is questionable due to an ankle injury, but he has dealt with the issue in subsequent games. While reports indicated Miami had 15 players available at the start of the week, only four players will have playing status as of Thursday. Armstead is the most vital thing, but expect him to play. Rookie Storm Duck could start at cornerback opposite Jalen Ramsey.
