Sections The Packers’ trio of starters miss a full week of practice ahead of the matchup with the Lions

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love was available for practice on Friday for the second straight day, but three starters – cornerback Jaire Alexander, backup Evan Williams and center Josh Myers – missed the third day in a row Wes Hodkiewicz from the band’s official website. It should now be assumed that all three will not play on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

A final health report, along with a determination of playing status, will be sent later Friday afternoon. Expect the Packers to list Alexander, Myers and Williams as out or questionable for the game.

Alexander is struggling with a knee injury he suffered last Sunday in a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Williams felt something in his hamstring during pregame warmups and ultimately sat out Sunday’s win in Jacksonville. Myers played with a wrist injury last week, but the issue didn’t seem to be resolved well this week.

Alexander and Williams represent half of the Packers’ base defense secondary. If both are unavailable, the Packers will likely have to move Javon Bullard from the safety spot and Keisean Nixon back to the spot and play Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine on the perimeter against one of the NFL’s best offenses.

At center, the Packers used left guard Elgton Jenkins as a backup behind Myers. If Jenkins moves to center, rookie Jordan Morgan will likely make his first NFL start, with Morgan and Sean Rhyan playing the two defensive tackle positions.

Beating the Lions 6-1 would be a arduous task with a fit lineup. The Packers have to do this with a quarterback who isn’t 100% and has at least three players missing.

The Packers have a bye in Week 10, so a chance to get fit is coming. However, the current injury situation – expected to be heavily absent on both sides of the ball – will pose quite a challenge for Matt LaFleur’s team heading into Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field.
