State Summary: Wisconsin got off to a great start for hunters

As of September 20, Wisconsin’s total black bear harvest was at 91% of this year’s harvest goal, with 3,527 animals recorded in the six bear zones. The harvest target for 2024 has been set at 3,850 bears. This is an exceptionally forceful start to the season, according to Randy Johnson, Rhineland DNR biologist for immense carnivores.
“We expect approximately 75% of the total harvest to occur at this point in the season (September 20).”
