Great news on the sturgeon front early last week when the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced more than two months before the June 30 deadline that the agency would not list domestic lake sturgeon – or even distinct populations within a state or states – as federally endangered.
This should be an simple call considering all the work and progress states have made over the years on the lake sturgeon front, working across borders to boost sturgeon populations.
