The Chicago Bears have requested an interview with the Green Bay Packers’ offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich according to their open head coaching job Adam Schefter of ESPN.
This would be Stenavich’s first interview for a head coaching position.
Stenavich, 41, has been the Packers’ offensive coordinator since 2022. Matt LaFleur first hired him as offensive line coach on his first coaching staff in 2019, and he remained in the position for the next three seasons. Stenavich added to his role as running game coordinator in 2021 before transitioning to offensive coordinator following the departure of Nathaniel Hackett following the 2021 season.
A native of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Stenavich played offensive tackle at Michigan and spent five years as a player at the NFL level before turning to coaching.
Stenavich began his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. Before joining the Packers, he spent two seasons as an assistant offensive line coach in San Francisco.
The Bears are looking for a recent head coach after firing Matt Eberflus midway through the season. Chicago lost 10 straight games after starting 4-2, but defeated Green Bay in the season finale to finish 5-12.
While Stenavich could decline the interview, the Packers can’t block it because being a head coach would mean a promotion.
