“The energy is different” – the former NBA player defended the Milwaukee Bucks. Citing the team’s recent winning ways

The Milwaukee Bucks started the 2024-25 NBA season with a indigent 2-8 record and have been making headlines as the recent campaign begins. Fortunately for the team, they managed to turn the situation around and improve their record. The Bucks are currently 11-11, but former players are still curious about what happened to the team during their tardy start.

On Friday’s episode of “Gil’s Arena,” the topic of the Bucks’ tardy start to the season came up. The team’s former quarterback, Brandon Jennings, mentioned that the team’s energy has changed, which has helped them improve. However, his co-hosts, Rashad McCants and Gilbert Arenas, insisted it could be something else.

“The energy is different, it’s hostile now,” Jennings said. “We’re winning games!”

“Energy is very important in basketball. If you don’t have energy, you won’t win. They didn’t approach the game the way they do now… You heard Giannis’ comments. They weren’t. So obviously something has changed, the energy… something has changed. The energy has changed.”

Jennings repeated his claim that the team’s improved performance was largely due to his renewed enthusiasm and mature approach to the game.

“We were winning, we won nine out of ten games. That’s not what we did… We started this year, right – we weren’t even in sync. Giannis said, and his whole quote was, “If you don’t want to be here, don’t be here.” He called out to whoever he was, something was happening in Milwaukee or something was happening in the group. Of course that has changed – it has to do with energy and your approach to the game.

The Milwaukee Bucks are the only team that had a tardy start to the season and has bounced back. Fortunately for the Bucks, their Big Three is now complete and Khris Middleton is back on the court. He made his season debut on Friday against the Boston Celtics.

Khris Middleton missed first 21 games season because he had ankle surgery in the summer. In his first match after returning from the bench, he played 23 minutes. He scored 11 points on 20% shooting from the field, showing that he needed time to get used to playing competitive basketball.

After the game, his All-Star teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo praised his comeback.

“It was good, it was great,” Giannis said. “Obviously he is an experienced player. He just stabilizes the game for us, makes good decisions, both offensively and defensively. I’m elated he’s back. I felt like he was comfortable playing ponderous minutes, he’s definitely going to be sore tomorrow. But looking further, it’s good to have him back. Another decision maker with us can make the game much easier.

Their next game is Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets. However, the team did not provide information about Middleton’s condition.
