The former Milwaukee Brewers catcher was stretched off the field after sustaining a solemn head injury

A couple of exes Milwaukee Breweries on Friday, May 31, they suffered a solemn injury. Catcher Payton Henry, now of the Toronto Blue Jays, was ejected from the field after Pablo Reyes, now of the New York Mets organization, accidentally hit Henry in the back of the head during his backswing.

Payton Henry was sent off the field after receiving a blow to the back of the head.

During the seventh inning of the Buffalo Bison and Syracuse Mets Triple-A game, Payton Henry was struck in the back of the head during a backswing by Pablo Reyes. Henry was treated at the scene by medical staff and was taken off the pitch on a stretcher. After this terrible incident, the game was not resumed and was considered over.

Following these events, Payton Henry was taken to a hospital in Syracuse. The Toronto Blue Jays and Buffalo Bison later released statements saying he was alert and responding appropriately.

“Payton Henry was taken to a hospital in Syracuse where he is being evaluated. Payton is currently alert and responding appropriately. We will share any further information as soon as it becomes available.”

Both Payton Henry and Pablo Reyes are former Milwaukee Brewers.

Payton Henry and Pablo Reyes are former Brewers players. Henry was drafted by Milwaukee in 2016, traded at the 2021 deadline for RHP John Curtiss, and then re-acquired by the Brew Crew in the November trade in 2022. He elected free agency after the 2023 season and signed with the Blue Jays on minor league contract.

Pablo Reyes was with the Brewers during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. During that time, he and Henry were teammates. Following the 2022 season, Reyes spent time in the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox organizations before being traded to the New York Mets in slow May 2024.

No further updates have been provided since the warning and corresponding statement from the Blue Jays and Bison.
